Why I love my dogs…

“The one absolutely unselfish friend that man can have in this selfish world, the one that never deserts him, the one that never proves ungrateful or treacherous, is his dog…

He will kiss the hand that has no food to offer; he will lick the wounds and sores that come in encounter with the roughness of the world…

When all other friends desert, he remains.”

– George V. Vest

I could not have said it better. I love my dogs.

  1. Faces (and paws) to love. How could you not? I try to be like my dog: unconditional love, patience with my failings, and unending joy when we’re together. I don’t measure up (often) but her example inspires me to try. I want to be as loving and accepting and full of life as my dog.

  2. Bex, I’ve just had a lovely time reading through your journal (Happy Birthday, Paul!) and this seemed the most appropriate place to post a note.

It’s been 15 years since we’ve had a puppy and even though the “puppy” is now an old crocheter, reading about Kipper’s youth has been a wonderful reinforcement for our policy of only adopting adults! Your babies (past and present) are lovely.
